Τhe long sandy organised beach of Rethymno with its numerous water sports is only 1.8 km away. Rethymno beach is located 500m east of the city centre and it is a beach with golden sand and crystal clear shallow water, very well organized and close to all amenities of the city. It offers numerous beach bars, restaurants and cafes that offer umbrellas with sun beds, showers and changing rooms.  Additionally on Rethymno’s beach you may find water sports facilities. Furthermore, there is a boardwalk which is ideal for afternoon walks by the sea, or simply shopping or dining.

Of course there are other beaches that are close by as well:

- Episkopi beach:   The sea in this area is regarded to be the cleanest and most beautiful on the North coast. Even in the high summer season, you can easily find a secluded spot on your own or a strip with sun beds and parasols, if that is what you prefer. There are several taverns and beach bars directly on the beach which they all are very popular to the locals and they are quite lively during the week-ends.

- Panormos: This coastal village is situated 20 km east of Rethymno. It boasts an organised beach as well as a variety of tavernas right by the sea.

- Bali: Nestling in the surrounding mountains of the bay of Bali you will find the coastal village of the same name 34 km east of Rethymno. Visitors may choose from which of the small inlets to enjoy bathing at organised sandy beaches. The area offers a large number of tavernas and shops.

- Georgiopouli beach: Is a long sandy beach with many beach bars or restaurants located there. It is well organised beach strip providing sun beds, umbrellas, changing rooms and showers. Of course you can certainly find a quiet spot in an unorganised section of the beach as it runs 3.5 kilometres long.

In the South coast of Crete you can also find some of the most amazing natural beaches of Crete like:

- Agios Pavlos beach. The main beach is a beautiful bay but be sure to walk beyond the bay to find the second beach of this amazing area which is famous for its sand dunes and is something not to be missed.

- Triopetra beach is only a stone’s throw away and definitely worth a visit. A sweeping stretch of sand,  it is named after the 3 rocks which rise proudly from the sea and has a few tavernas.

- Preveli beach is a famous beach on the south coast and an area of natural and protected beauty with a beautiful palm forest.. Preveli beach is located at the mouth of a river that comes from the imposing Kourtaliotiko Gorge. If you walk up the side of the river you will find some rock pools in which to swim which takes the experience you will have at Preveli beach to the next level.

Additionally, “Schinaria”, “Damnoni”, and Ammoudi are also worth visiting. The distance to the South coast is about 40 minutes from the villa by car.  Crete is a magical island filled with myth and legend, a place to relax the ideal choice for all the family.
